The curiosity for this study was to further explore Degas’ representation of the figures and the effect of the black outline to represent movement. During this study, I decided to replace the yellowish-green skirts with bluish skirts and enhance the orange to highlight the complementary relationship. The positive effect from the observers was astounding when they saw the two paintings side-by-side. Near the end, I introduced the black outlines to represent movement similar to Degas. Feedback from the observers, however, drove me to remove them. You should notice movement on the facial expression of the rightmost figure.
